Wow, What a Week!

Man, when I said I have a hectic life, I wasn't kidding. Last Saturday, my wife and I took all of the kids (with a friend and her daughter) down to Navy Pier to check out the Chicago Children's Museum.

The museum was great. The kids had a fun time playing with the different exhibits. Alek had a blast creating flying machines that didn't always fly very well. Michael loved the dinosaur dig. Isabel had loads of fun playing in the little super-market and kitchen in the play-maze. Even David had a ball. They all got to create designs on their faces with water-crayons. And at the end we hit the Waterways spot. The kids went crazy shooting water, creating fountains, and playing with waterflows, locks, etc. It was a lot of fun and everyone was exhausted afterwards.

Since our van can't hold 8 people and we didn't want to pay for parking twice, our friend rented a Ford Excursion. Man, what a car. 8 passenger, DVD player. Very big. Doesn't get more than 18 Mpg, but it has a 44 gallon tank! Definitely not for small car kinda people. But, my wife wants one now. Thankfully we're not ready to buy a new vehicle yet, not for a few years at least. So for now, she gets to dream and plan.

Of course, since I was on call for work all week last week, I get the most calls while I'm at the museum. Murphy's law, it had to happen. No big deal, we got through it all.

Sunday went alright. Our friend Tiffany and her daughter stayed over Friday and Saturday night and left Sunday afternoon. We went out and bought new shoes for Alek. That kid is almost as big as his 2 1/2 year older brother. Then we dropped the 3 kids off at their dad's house and took David to miniatures like we do every Sunday night.

Monday morning was rough since Yvonne had a backache and the kids are never fun to deal with Monday morning before school. It's got to be hard on a 3 year old to get up every day to go to school. They catch the bus at 7:20am. Heck, I'm 36 and I don't like waking up every day to get them on the bus, much less get myself to work. I was never a morning person.

To be continued in part 2.
